Some days are better than others....you will here me say this time and time again. Today, work was a bit overwhelming, not because it was bad, just because I was super busy and having a difficult time focusing. This was nothing that I couldn't manage, I just needed a break to regroup and finish up later.
It just so happened a wonderful friend of mine needed me as well. So I took that break to be there for her. This needed to come first for a short period of time today and my ADHD and anxiety had to wait. Luckily I have a wonderful job that offers that flexibility, and I just finished with the rest of my work for the day before writing this.
We took this time to just talk and listen to each other about what we were both going through today, and to do some much needed crafting for our softball team that we coach together. Yup crafting for our team, who decided to name themselves after a book series they are all reading, so we added dragon wings (super cute ones that were painted on, mind you, by hand) to the back of each of their team shirts.
During this time, I wasn't thinking about my issues that I was dealing with earlier, but I was trying to help her think through her situation, be there to support her and let her know it will all work out. Which it will in the end, and everything will fall together like a piece in a Tetris game. (Yup, I am old school!)
Even though I really didn't do anything for her, I was there for her. A sounding board so to speak, for her to bounce words off of while she tried to compartmentalize everything that was happening in her life right now. When it rains it pours, or like here in CO, when it rains it hails!
She actually said something today about me writing in my blog about her "crazy life". I told her that I don't know what I am going to write about until I start writing at the end of the day. LOL, and here I am talking about her. That's what she gets for putting that idea in my head. Love you!
She knows that friendship is a choice in life and true friends are there for you during all times. Not just the fun times or times of celebration, but also those sad, stressful, teenage filled, complex, and downright horrible times as well.
Just when you think you can't take anymore of your own mental issues that are taking control of your day, life throws you a curve ball and you need to be the one supporting someone else during their time of need. Remember, we all need someone at times, it is nothing to be ashamed of, you never know when they will need you. That time you spend being there for them, could actually be help for you as well.
